Little Owl (Athene noctua).

This is the other Owl I watched at the weekend, looked to be about an inch taller and more brown in colour than the other bird, this one lives in a tree in the middle of a horse paddock, the fence it is sat on surrounds the trees.

Small Owl at approx 9-10 inches in length, difficult to see in hedge rows and trees, but can often be seen on fences and posts like this one.

Feeds on insects, Beetles, worms, small birds and small rodents, watched this one yesterday getting small things from the field, a lot of grasshoppers about so may have been them.

Have watched two different Little owls this weekend, very slow days as they tend to doze a lot :)

Wild Bird.

I collect tiny owls in stone and ceramic (rule of thumb: no bigger than my thumb) and this reminds me of a few of those.

How adorable is that cranky face? I want to pet its little head.

Thanks for another lovely in-box surprise.
