Just popped this up to show someone who asked if there was much difference in colour between birds...
The females tend to be darker than the males, this makes the facial disk more pronounced, the females also have speckling down their sides/flanks, this can vary from a few speckles to being quite heavily speckled, the females are generally larger to.
The pair in this image are two year old siblings, the female is approximately and inch and a half taller than her brother.
